- The film is referenced by the huge sword in the downward position at the main hall's stairs.
- Spells Fifth Avenue is a parody of Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York.
- Morgana has similarities to Morgan le Fay.[1]
- Both Merlin and Morgana return in "Day of the Sorcerers".
- The duel in this episode is depicted identically to magic duels depicted in the Harry Potter films, likely having taken influence from them.
